Цього року Україна відзначає 5-ту річницю з дня кривавих подій на Майдані. «Зобов’язані пам’ятати» – під такою назвою 19 лютого у бібліотеці пройшов вечір пам’яті до Дня Героїв Небесної Сотні.
Бібліотекарі розповіли про події, що передували кривавим розстрілам 19-20 лютого 2014 р.: невдоволення українців зупиненням процесу підготовки до підписання угоди про асоціацію України з ЄС, побиття студентів-активістів, стягнення сил спецпідрозділу «Беркут» проти мирних протестувальників тощо.
На захід завітав учасник Революції гідності Олег Гілякін – людина, що стояла у витоків заснування в Миколаєві «Української Гельсінської спілки», «Просвіти», «Народного Руху України», учасник Ланцюга Злуки 1990 р. Він розповів про те, чим жив Майдан, і наголосив, що там панувала атмосфера братерства та взаємодопомоги. Також гість описав події, що відбувалися у Миколаєві на рубежі 2013-2014 рр. Наприкінці виступу Олег Гілякін заспівав авторську пісню, написану ним з великою любов’ю до України.
Для присутніх також співала студентка Миколаївського коледжу культури і мистецтв Алла Пригаріна, а заслужений артист України, композитор Олександр Сичов та поет Олександр Мачула до цього пам’ятного дня подарували бібліотеці пісню «Пам’яті Героїв Небесних Сотень», прем’єрне звучання якої відбулося під час заходу.
Присутні ознайомилися з виданнями, присвячених Небесній Сотні та подіям Євромайдану з фонду обласної наукової бібліотеки.
Пам’ять загиблих під час Революції гідності вшанували хвилиною мовчання.

To the Day of Heroes of Heavenly Hundreds
This year, Ukraine celebrates its 5th anniversary from the day of the bloody events on Maidan. «Obliged to remember» - under this name on February 19, the library spent the evening in memory of the Day of Heroes of Heavenly Hundred.
The librarians told about the events that preceded the bloody executions on February 19-20, 2014: the dissatisfaction of Ukrainians with the suspension of the process of preparing for the signing of the agreement on the association of Ukraine with the EU, the beating of student activists, the capture of the forces of the special forces «Berkut» against peaceful protesters, etc.
Oleg Gilyakin, a participant in the Revolution of Dignity - a man who was at the origins of the founding of the «Ukrainian Helsinki Union», «Prosvita», «People's Movement of Ukraine», a member of the Zluki Circle of 1990 in Mykolaiv. He spoke about what the Maidan lived during the events of 5 years ago, and emphasized that there was an atmosphere of fraternity and mutual assistance. Also, the guest described the events that took place in Mykolaiv at the turn of 2013-2014. At the end of the speech, Oleg Gilyakin sang an author's song, written by him from a great love for Ukraine.
Alla Prigarina, student of the Mykolaiv College of Culture and Arts, and the Honored Artist of Ukraine, composer Oleksandr Sychev and poet Oleksandr Machuly sang to the audience for this memorable day, presented to the library a song «In Memory of the Heroes of Heavenly Hundreds», the premiere of which was held under time of the event.
The participants were acquainted with publications devoted to the Heavenly Hundreds and the events of EuroMaidan from the fund of the regional scientific library.
The memory of the victims during the Revolution was dignified with a minute of silence.
