31 жовтня у відділі документів і наукових розвідок з питань краєзнавства відбувся круглий стіл «Миколаїв – центр освіти і культури Степового Побужжя» (до 230-річчя заснування міста Миколаєва), ініціатором якого став Миколаївський обласний інститут післядипломної педагогічної освіти. Учасниками стали відомі миколаївські науковці, викладачі та учні ЗОШ міста, районів.
Завідувачка кабінету навчального «Освіта Миколаївщини» Миколаївського обласного інституту післядипломної педагогічної освіти Г. М. Запорожченко поетично привітала учасників заходу, продекламувавши власну поезію «Наш Миколаїв – то прадавнє городище…», а також розкрила постать видатного просвітника Миколаївщини М. Аркаса та його вплив на становлення української народної школи на Півдні України. Директор Першої української гімназії імені Миколи Аркаса С. В. Бережний разом з учнями гімназії розповіли про свій освітній заклад – його історію, викладачів, випускників та сьогоднішні напрацювання. У своїх доповідях завідувач туристсько-краєзнавчого відділу Будинку дитячої та юнацької творчості Заводського району м. Миколаєва К. Г. Осадча, учитель трудового навчання Миколаївської ЗОШ І-ІІІ ст. №3 І. О. Довгань, учитель української мови, керівник музею історії Єланецької ЗОШ І-ІІІ ст. О. В. Трав’янко розповіли про учительські династії на Миколаївщині. Кандидат історичних наук, доцент кафедри філософської освіти, теорії й методики суспільствознавчих предметів Миколаївського обласного інституту післядипломної педагогічної освіти О. В. Волос приділила увагу післядипломній педагогічній освіті у регіоні.
Завідувачка відділу науково-дослідної роботи з рідкісними й цінними виданнями Т. В. Серебрякова презентувала книжкову виставку «Сторінками підручників минулих століть» із фонду обласної бібліотеки.

A round table was held «Mykolaiv- the center of education and culture of Steppe Buh» (to the 230th anniversary of foundation of the Mykolaiv city)
On October 31, the round table "Nikolaev - the center of education and culture of the Steppe Buh" (to the 230 anniversary of the foundation of the Mykolaiv city), which was initiated by the Mykolaiv regional institute of postgraduate pedagogical education took place in the department of documents and scientific researches on local lore. The meeting consisted of two modules - historical and theoretical and excursion. The participants were Mykolaiv scientists, teachers and students of secondary school of the city, districts.
The head of an office of educational "Education of Mykolaiv region" of the Mykolaiv regional institute of postgraduate pedagogical education G.M. Zaporozhchenko poetically congratulated participants of the event, declaring her own poetry "Our Mykolaiv is the ancient settlement ..." formation of the Ukrainian folk school in the south of Ukraine. S.V. Berezhnyi, the director of Mykola Arkas First Ukrainian Grammar School, together with the students of the gymnasium, told about their educational institution, its history, teachers, graduates and current achievements. In his reports the head of the tourist-local department of the House of children's and youth creativity of the Factory Mykolaiv district, K.G. Osadcha and the teacher of labor training of the Mykolaiv secondary school №3 presented teacher dynasties in the Mykolaiv area.
At the end of the meeting the candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the department of philosophical education, theory and methodology of social sciences subjects of the Mykolaiv regional institute of postgraduate pedagogical education O.V. Volos highlighted the formation of postgraduate pedagogical education in the region. The head of the Rare and Valuable Research Department presented a book exhibition "Pages of Textbooks of Past Centuries" from the Regional Library Fund and told about their evolution.
