10 жовтня у рамках Декади першокурсника у відділі науково-дослідної роботи з рідкісними і цінними виданнями відбувся історичний нарис «Скарбниця знань, ідей, думок». Під час заходу присутні дізналися, що протягом свого існування бібліотека з невеликої публічної книгозбірні перетворилася на провідну бібліотечну установу, що зберігає найкращі традиції обслуговування користувачів та впроваджує новітні послуги й технології. Учасники познайомилися з діяльністю визначних особистостей, які стояли у витоків бібліотечної справи на Миколаївщині. Особливу увагу було приділено історії створення будівель, де у різні часи перебувала бібліотека та які сьогодні є пам’ятками архітектури.
До уваги відвідувачів була запропонована виставка «Книга – таїна великого мистецтва», де експонувалися рідкісні видання ХVІІІ – поч. ХХ ст. та шедеври сучасного поліграфічного мистецтва.
Учасники побажали бібліотекарям постійно знаходитися у пошуку нового й актуального і висловили сподівання, що у бібліотеки є не тільки минуле та цікаве сьогодення, але і прекрасне майбутнє.

«The treasury of knowledge, ideas, thoughts»
On the 10th of October in the framework of the Decade of the freshmen was held a historical essay «The treasury of knowledge, ideas, thoughts» in the department of research with rare and valuable publications. During the event participants knew about the establishment and development of the Mykolayiv Regional Scientific Library became acquainted with the activities of prominent personalities who were at the root of the library business in the Mykolaiv region. Particular attention was paid to the history of building buildings, where at various times there was a library, and which today are architectural monuments.
To the visitors were presented the exhibition «The Book - the Mystery of Great Art», where rare editions of the 18th - early 20th century and the masterpieces of modern printing art were exhibited.
The participants were convinced that during their existence the library from a small public library has become a leading library institution, preserves the best traditions of customer service and introduces the latest services and technologies. The participants wished the librarians to be constantly in search of new and relevant, and expressed the hope that the library has not only the past, but an interesting present and a beautiful future.
